About the team we are recruiting to The Adult Education Service is part of Coventry City Council. We provide a wide range of courses for Coventry residents age 19+ and much of our provision is targeted at people with the highest levels of need. We offer long courses in English, maths, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), ICT/Digital and vocational subjects such as Early Years, along with provision for adults with learning disabilities. We also offer a very wide range of short community courses in arts, crafts, music, dance, exercise, fitness and family learning. In addition, we run a highly supportive study programme for young people. Our work-based learning offer includes Apprenticeships in the following subject areas: Nursery Workers Teaching Assistants Leadership/Management; and Customer Care. We also provide courses for adults who are seeking work via the Council’s Job Shop. Our main base is at Southfields Old School, CV1 5EJ, with provision delivered at around 25 other sites within Coventry, mostly in areas of highest need. Part time evening reception/administration staff required Term Time Only 39 weeks - Salary will be pro rata to the number of hours and weeks worked. Coventry City Council’s highly successful Adult Education Service is seeking experienced staff to provide high quality reception and venue administration support for four evenings a week at one of our main evening venues, We are willing to recruit one candidate to work 4 evenings a week or 2 candidates who want to work 2 evenings a week. Please state in your application whether you want to work 4 evenings or 2 evenings a week. Hours of work will be; Monday to Thursday - 5.30 pm – 9.15 pm (15 hours a week) Term Time Only This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Who are we looking for? Applicants must have previous reception and administrative experience. You will provide professional, welcoming, frontline customer service, ensuring the smooth running of the Adult Education evening provision in the venue in which you are based. This includes: Meeting and greeting learners and other visitors at reception Dealing with straightforward queries from learners and tutors Processing enrolments and payments Ensuring course related paperwork is up to date and available for tutors. Post holders will be expected to undertake other service-related administrative tasks within the pay grade You will be expected to use your initiative to deal with issues as and when they arise and be able to identify more complex issues that need to be escalated. that candidates MUST have a Level 2 English and Maths qualification (GCSE Grade C/4 or above or Functional Skills Level 2, or equivalent), together with previous experience of reception and administration work, in order to be considered for these roles Interviews will be held on Friday 28th January only
