Managing one or multiple data centres, you’ll ensure they perform effectively and reliably to meet all our customers’ performance needs.
This means you’ll be involved in planning and overseeing all maintenance, repairs, upgrades, expansions and customer services, while ensuring all work meets health and safety standards and agreed SLAs and KPIs, and managing any disruptions to service.
This includes monitoring all site operations for energy efficiency, overseeing all alarm systems and approving all capacity requests, as well as ensuring all data centre staff have access to necessary training.
Managing, mentoring and developing a team of senior site engineers, you’ll report to the Head of Service Operations UK and work closely with a variety of Digital Realty teams, as well as customers and suppliers.
What you’ll need Strong product management/marketing experience including product development, strategic planning and implementation, ideally in a data centre environment Extensive experience and detailed knowledge of managing plant/service operations Detailed understanding of data centre infrastructures Strong background working in a mission-critical mechanical and electrical environment in a large company, ideally in IT or telecoms Proven people management skills, with both direct and indirect reports Experience of managing a technical facilities management function BIFM (British Institute of Facilities Management) or similar training and accreditation Understanding of maintenance governance principles Committed and open to new ideas and responsibilities, with the ability to adjust plans to meet changing needs.
A strong problem solver, focused on delivering quality work on time and to budget A can-do attitude, but understands the need to delegate when appropriate A good listener, with strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal Ability to manage performance by setting standards, handling problems and providing guidance and assistance Experience of maintenance management systems, from Excel-based to bespoke systems (e.
