CDS Recruitment and Training are working with a client who are looking to take on a Health and Safety Officer on a permanent bases. Job Specification Job Title: Health & Safety Officer Reporting To: Quality Manager Location: South Shields, UK Days / Hours: Monday to Friday / 39 hours per week Purpose of the Role: §To act as the organisation's competent person for Health and Safety & Environmental matters as defined by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. ï§To ensure the organisation complies with current and forthcoming Health and Safety & Environmental legislation. Approved Codes of Practice and guidance in relation to employment and service provision. Areas of Responsibility: ï§To work proactively with managers to establish and maintain a system that promotes a culture of safe working practices across the organization. To assist managers, implement Health & Safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) in a consistent and effective manner. ï§To provide direct support and leadership of the Health, Safety and environmental requirements to all departments including the battery directive. ï§To ensure the Company's Health, Safety & Environmental Policy is implemented and monitored consistently across Saft (UK) Limited. ï§To assist in the identification of training needs for employees and develop/deliver training as required. To support managers to maintain safe systems, providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support. ï§Ensure all contracting employees are compliant and work in accordance with site procedures. ï§To carry out audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health, safety & Environmental systems, and procedures, identify and implement improvements. ï§Investigate and to assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence. ï§To ensure routine Health & Safety activities and checks are carried out e.g., testing of portable electrical appliances, internal asbestos surveying, emergency lighting, the review of risk assessments and where necessary introduce relevant control measures. ï§Support the Quality team with their ISO9001 auditing requirements. Skills & Experience required for the role: Education/Qualifications ï§NEBOSH Diploma or higher/similar. ï§Chartered member of IOSH (or working towards) Experience ï§Knowledge of ISO45001, ISO14001 and REACH. ï§Management of emergency procedures. ï§Support of Crisis situations - CRISIS Management ï§COSHH Read More |
