Those huge small victories

Working in our Children’s Homes means being a part of a young person’s day to day life. This means being there for the highest highs and lowest lows. Our night support workers are a part of enabling our young people to get their childhood back and create pathways to become well rounded adults – an incredibly rewarding role to have. There will be challenges along the way but there will also be the smallest moments which feel like a huge small victory!

Our homes accommodate young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, and our aim is to create the best possible outcome for the young people in our care. Our night support workers are fulfilled by the idea of affecting even the smallest positive changes in our young people, so we celebrate the little things.

Get out what you put in

You’ll take care of the home and our young people through the night. There will be times when a young person wakes up in the middle of the night dealing with severe trauma, feeling ill, upset or just unable to sleep -having someone there that understands them and provide support in that moment can make a huge difference. Building a rapport and becoming someone our young people can trust in their time of need is what we are looking for. In quieter times we will need you to take care of tasks around the home such as paper work, cleaning and laundry.

Working here is never dull, and the work really matters. It’s about tapping into each young person’s needs, personality and potential - and guiding them toward a positive future.

What we do for you

We know you’re going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we reward you with the best salary and benefits package in the care sector. With us, you’ll get to make a genuine difference to the lives of our young people – plus you’ll get:

  • We genuinely care about our young people (and each other) so honesty and empathy is a must
  • The resilience to be able to deal with challenging situations

    About Witherslack Group

Witherslack Group provide inspirational education and care to children and young people, resulting in life changing experiences and countless stories of success.
At Witherslack Group we truly understand that having happy employees makes for happy environments for our young people, that’s why we really value feedback from all of our employees. One way we do this is through our regular engagement surveys, which ensure we are listening and making changes when needed.

In our most recent survey, which was completed by 85% of our employees, ‘improving outcomes for young people is a top priority at my place of work’ was our highest scoring question at 8.9 (out of 10). This is something that we are really proud of, as making a difference to the lives of children and young people is at the centre of everything we do.

The areas we have seen increases in scores are largely driven by improvements in how fairly people feel they are treated, how clear people are on what is expected of them, and how likely people are to recommend Witherslack Group to a friend or relative. Our overall score of 7.9 (out of 10) reflects the high number of talented and committed people we have across our Group, something we know is our greatest strength.

This year we also asked what employees valued most about working at Witherslack Group and again we were pleased to see that so many reported felt our overall reward and benefits packages was strong.

We always want to keep moving forward and so will continue to listen, adapt and improve to be the best employer we can possibly be.
