Job Title: Head of Physical Education (PE) Department


Location: Tower Hamlets


Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent (for the right candidate)


Step Teachers are working with a vibrant school that is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Physical Education (PE) to lead their PE department.

The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the school’s physical education curriculum, fostering a competitive and sports-driven culture within the school.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Take charge of the PE department, providing strategic vision and leadership.
  • Curriculum Development: Spearhead the development and implementation of an innovative and comprehensive PE curriculum.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of dedicated PE instructors, cultivating a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Sports Program Oversight: Manage and enhance the school's sports programs, ensuring a competitive edge and encouraging student participation in various sports activities.
  • Facilities Management: Oversee the effective utilization and maintenance of sports facilities, ensuring a safe and conducive environment for physical education.
  • Student Engagement: Develop strategies to engage students in PE, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree in Physical Education or related field.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven Leadership Experience: Demonstrated success in leading and managing a PE department or sports program.
  • Teaching Experience: Substantial experience in teaching physical education at various levels.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to develop and implement a strategic vision for the PE department.
