We are a multi-disciplinary team, covering 17 practices across East Staffs. We have a strong leadership, led by our PCN Clinical Director and a supportive management team. We are looking at expanding our team which currently includes clinical pharmacists, a pharmacy technician and a social prescriber We are a very forward thinking and innovative PCN who utilises to the full, the skills and experience of our team members. We have a flexible approach and will consider full time / part time or job share opportunities. We are supportive of professional development and pride ourselves supporting peer support for these new roles whilst working in a supportive and friendly environment. We work collaboratively with our local GP Federation who support core General Practice and sustaining the future for General Practice. The Federation are facilitating and supporting the recruitment of the new roles within our Primary Care Network.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work collaboratively in Gordon Street within the policies and procedures of the organisation. Perform both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures following appropriate training and experience as required. Conduct telephone consultations which may involve discussing the result and implications of laboratory investigations with patients along with routine and emergency complaints. Fully document all aspects of patient care and complete all required paperwork for legal and administrative purposes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within East Staffordshire PCN. You will work as part of multidisciplinary team to support our local population. You will assess and examine patients, manage a specific caseload of patients, present them, initiate and interpret investigations and recommend treatment, whilst exercising a high level of professional judgment and expertise when delivering care. Job Description The post holder will work collaboratively in Gordon Street within the policies and procedures of the organisations, and will have the following duties and responsibilities under the broad headings below: Clinical Attend induction arranged by the GP Practice A designated clinician will supervise the PA at the GP Practice Participate in all treatment and preventative healthcare services in the Practice as delegated and agreed by the supervising GP(s) Provide direct clinical care to patients using established clinical guidelines for both routine and urgent complaints. Consult and refer patients to specialists and other health professionals as appropriate. Training / Educational Development Ensure continuing education, training and development is undertaken to meet clinical governance guidelines for Continuing Professional Development and a Personal Development Plan. Keep up to date with relevant medical research and evidence-based medical practice by attending continuing education courses and professional meetings, reading journals etc. Undertake 50 hours of continuing medical education (CPD) every year and record and reflect on this in line with FPARCP guidance. A minimum of 25 hours must be in accredited direct learning programmes. Take the UK PA National Re-certification Examination every six years, as required for Physician Associates to maintain registration on the Managed Voluntary Register (MVR) . Perform a variety of research and analysis tasks associated with improvement of clinical care, medical diagnosis and treatment where appropriate using the following means. Audit of clinical practice. Review of relevant literature. Research unusual symptoms and treatment options through consultation with General Practitioners, Physicians and other specialists. Attend regular multi-disciplinary meetings organised by the Practice in order to discuss and learn from recent significant events relating to clinical practice occurring within the Practice. Attend regular educational meetings organised by the practice in order to update clinical knowledge, practice policy and guidelines and disseminate other useful information relevant to the provision of adequate healthcare for patients. Regularly reflect on own practice (and keep a record of learning encounters) in order to identify learning needs and encourage self-directed lifelong learning and continued professional development. Attend educational sessions as organised by your primary care educational tutor. This is an inclusive part of your training scheme and will equate to approximately half a day per week. Administration Communicate when necessary with colleagues in Primary Care in order to discuss or refer specific patients, plan and co-ordinate activities or exchange information in order to improve the quality of patient care. Send and receive written information on behalf of the Practice regarding matters relating to the physical and social welfare of patients. Work to deliver together with other members of the Practice and Primary Healthcare Team, the objectives of the GP contract, including the terms of the Quality and Outcomes Framework and CCG Commissioning. Attend regular multi-disciplinary meetings organised by the Practice in order to discuss the health and social needs of particular patients.

Qualifications To hold a post graduate diploma or MSc in Physician Associate Studies Must be a Member of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP, which includes registration on the PA MVR until such time that statutory regulation of PAs is achieved Current and valid certification or re-certification by the UK Physician Associate National Examination Maintains CPD requirements of 50 hours per year (As per FPARCP guidance) ESSENTIAL Knowledge & ExperienceExperience of working as a physician associate for a minimum of 1 year Experience of dealing with a range of clinical conditions Demonstrate previous working in an NHS environment Participates in CPD keeping up to date with evidence based knowledge and competence in all aspects of their role, meeting clinical governance guidelines for CPD. ESSENTIAL Skills & Abilities Ability to work with unpredictable situations and under pressure and to tight deadlines with frequent interruptions Ability to manage conflict calmly and positively, and adhere to procedures under pressure. Ability to plan, respond and positively contribute to operational change. Able to obtain and analyse complex technical information. Familiarity with the audit cycle and collecting data. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Forming close working relationships with patients, nurses, GPs, community pharmacists, external healthcare professionals and non-clinical staff. Ability to accurately input information with ability to produce high quality reports. Strong sense of initiative and ability to self-direct.
