We are interested in candidates who are already fully functioning Physicians Associates ideally (though not essential) with experience of working in urgent or primary care and with independent prescribing qualifications who are looking or an opportunity to broaden their professional horizons, get more autonomy and take on more clinical responsibility within a supportive environment.
Main duties of the job
Your role will require you to participate in all aspects of patient care through knowledge gained from your training and previous work experience. As a Physician Associate you will provide care for patients from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prescribing.
You will evaluate their care needs and include on call responsibilities and home visiting under GP supervision.
You will also review patient documents and pathology results and assist in maintaining patient records.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will provide advice for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. The post holder will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care including assessment and diagnostic skills for patients being treated.
The post holder will:
Work as part of an extended MDT under the supervision of a named GP Deliver clinical triage by telephone and carry out video consultations via AccuRx Make diagnoses, analyse test results and deliver treatment Work to a professional code of ethics Provide varied support and show flexibility in your role Show a caring attitude towards patients Have well- developed communication skills to provide treatment plans Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
Certification of passing the PA National Examination Member of the Faculty of Physician Associates at the RCP A postgraduate degree in Physician Associate Studies from an accredited PA programme Desirable
On the Physician Associate Managed Voluntary Register Experience
Essential
Experience of working in a medicine environment, including preventative medicine and chronic disease management Desirable
Experience of working within a primary care environment Experience of seeing, assessing and treating acutely unwell people presenting in primary care Skills and Abilities

Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of all relevant and related aspects of anatomy and physiology Demonstrates in in-depth knowledge of general practice conditions, treatments and pharmacology. Ability to support doctors in decision making Ability to work both autonomously and in a team Ability to liaise effectively with the wider healthcare community Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively Ability to take an active role in a working group Critical thinking skills in decision making Excellent written and verbal communication skills Desirable
Ability to exercise sound judgement when faced with conflicting pressures Sound IT knowledge including use of clinical systems An awareness of current developments and initiatives in primary care Ability to assist in the development of the role of physician associate within the practice and the wider locality An awareness of local commissioning objectives that impact on primary care and the services to be delivered.
