Senior Backend Engineer role, remote working with occasional travel to Milton Keynes Your new company Your new company is a start up who are a pioneer in creating a seamless app for the hospitality sector. They have had exponential growth in the last 18 months and there are no signs of slowing down as they are adding talent to their team and winning new business. It is an exciting time to join them as the continue to grow.Your new role You will be responsible for taking over the Back End of an MVP version of LoPay, adding new features and ensuring the product can scale for its imminent world-wide launch, with the support of the wider company's Back End team who are working on products. You will also be required to contribute to the web Front End, which is built in React.A summary of our tech stack: The LoPay Back End has been written in NodeJs/Typescript and deployed to Heroku for the MVP phase. The Back End uses Postgres to store data and Redis for caching. The web app has been built in React and is currently hosted on netlify for the MVP phase. There are also IOS and Android apps built by the experienced mobile team.Main Responsibilities:1. Take ownership of the Back End development for LoPay, adding new features and ensuring the product can scale2. Work (and sometimes lead) on projects to deliver new, and improve existing functionality3. implement code changes to existing services with minimal disruption to existing functionality and performance4. Work collaboratively with other cross functional teams to deliver end to end features5. Suggest and implement changes to day to day working processes to improve ease and efficiency of development life cycle6. Optimise existing features to improve overall performance as we scale7. Ensure your code is readable, maintainable and testable - utilising TDD wherever possible8. Troubleshoot, debug and resolve high priority issues where they ariseWhat you'll need to succeed Required Skills and Experience:- Node.js/TypeScript- React with TypeScript- SQL (postgres) and noSQL (dynamoDb, redis) databases- Docker and Kubernetes- AWS services - RDS, EKS, SQS, S3, Lambda- Test driven development (TDD)- Git & GitHub- Experience with Continuous Integration & Deployment- Experience working with payment providers- Experience working with open banking (nice to have)What you'll get in return You will own part of our company by membership in our employee share scheme.
