Role Overview

The role shall be responsible for the technical and professional development of team members, as well as the day-to-day tracking of work activities.

The Software Engineering Manager is key influencer role and shall foster collaboration with other technology teams to help shape the strategy and design of engineered cloud capabilities. Advocating for the adoption of managed cloud services and low code platforms as a means of delivering software solutions

Due to internal promotion , we are recruiting for a Software Engineer Manager who is responsible for managing engineering activities across platforms hosted on the firm’s cloud environments, including Azure. Embedding secure and predictable delivery practices within the pipelines the Product Engineering team serves. . The location of the role is Birmingham or Glasgow with travel to other Pinsent Masons offices required.

Our standard working hours are 9:30am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday. Some out of hours & weekend work.

Candidate Overview

We are looking for candidates who ideally hold the following skills and experience:

Coordinate work across software development teams (internal & outsourced).

Coordinate ongoing improvements to engineering controls, pipelines and documentation across platforms.

Ensure firm’s Global Software Development Policy is ratified across engineering pipelines.

Coordinate ongoing maintenance works to engineering environments.

Coordinate regular security testing and review of engineered solutions, and engage on audit responses.

Champion a collaborative, delivery-focused culture within the team.

Conduct 1-2-1s and identify growth opportunities to cross-train and upskill.

Deliver software solutions that can be managed and serviced by other technical delivery teams.

Embed a third line support process for the rapid identification and remedy of product issues.

Collect and regularly report capacity and performance KPIs to Head of Product Engineering.

Facilitate software design workshops to build a shared understanding and approach to solving a technical problem.
