As a Workshop Technician, you will be required to maintain, service, repair and modify the company’s assets as required at the workshop to a standard that complies with/exceeds all current legislation. We service, calibrate and repair a range of electrical, gas, BA and lifting equipment items and test equipment ensuring the standards set by the company are met on all occasions, your role will be to carry out repairs and calibrations of one of these categories of items. You will be responsible for keeping stock time in the workshop to a minimum by maintaining, calibrating and repairing equipment to meet the manufacturer’s standards enabling it to be sent out to one of our busy hire depots We also maintain a similar range of customers own safety equipment sent to us for repair and calibration. The position available will require you to both calibrate or service out of date and damaged equipment transferred to our workshop from one of our network of hire depots across the UK as well as repairing and calibrating customers own equipment sent in to us for a prompt turnaround. Additional ad-hoc duties may arise and you will be required to take responsibility for workshop cleanliness, safety and supplies through the course of each shift. Skills & experience required: An Engineering qualification or similar would be preferred but is not essential. Knowledge of testing or servicing equipment in a similar role would be good, however full training will be provided. Ability to demonstrate a knowledge of how to open, repair and maintain specialist safety equipment, in particular BA equipment or electrical products, all relevant manufacturer training would also be given. Good communication skills both with colleagues and customers internally and externally. Willing to attend manufacturers training courses around the UK when requested. Be able to manage workloads and prioritise effectively Competent IT skills, the department operates a fully automated system for which full training will be provided. Prepared to work away from home on occasions and at other branches when requested.
