Overview of job

Global is the UK’s biggest commercial radio group, home of the Capital FM, Classic FM, Heart, Smooth and Radio X radio brands.We’re looking for an experienced Android developer with a passion for high-quality code to join our established development team.

The role will be based in Global’s London office in Holborn (hybrid working).

Measures of success –

In the first few months, you would have:

• Our mobile apps. Native mobile app development for Android, combining radio streams; content and industry intelligence to bring an immersive listening experience to our users. Our apps are used by over a million users each month.

What you will need

• At least 3 years commercial development experience in Android development.
• Experience of agile practices and working in a sociable, cross-functional team.
• A strong grasp of OOP fundamentals and design patterns.
• Working knowledge of building rich visual interfaces in Android.
• Experience handling audio in Android.
• Understanding of the importance of Continuous Integration.
• A commitment to testing - experience of writing & maintaining unit tests; mocking frameworks and an enthusiasm for test-driven development.
• Understanding of RxJava.

Bonus points if you tick any of the following boxes…

• Experience with Jetpack Compose.
• Experience with clean architecture, MVVM and/or MVI.
• Experience designing web based APIs and clients for optimal consumption on mobile networks.
• Exposure to common frameworks/libraries in the Android ecosystem.
