THE ROLE

BBC Audiobooks are a commercial range of BBC Archive and new recordings from BBC radio, television and newly created audiobook readings, that are published into the audiobook market, and distributed as CDs and downloads.

Penguin Random House, manage all aspects of the publishing and commercial exploitation of the catalogue and the new releases, on behalf of BBC Studios.

This role is to fully support the team who work on BBC Audiobooks at Penguin Random House. This involves administration, schedule management, sourcing of recording masters and editorial responsibilities to contribute to the efficient delivery of a commercially compelling publishing programme for BBC Audiobooks:

  • Sourcing audio assets from BBC systems for both consideration and publication purposes
  • Ensuring BBC audio assets are suitable for commercial publication and provide a seamless listening experience – this may involve organising introductions to be added to files, arranging for music to be edited out and proof listening.
  • Accessing and passing on information from BBC systems – eg transmission date information, detailed programme information.
  • Updating metadata for BBC Audiobooks to ensure BBC Audiobooks titles achieve maximum visibility across all retailers.
  • Supporting the editorial team administratively: arranging meetings, posting contributor copies, running Biblio reports.
  • Ensuring audio schedule is up to date and accurate at all times, working closely with the Operations team.
  • Action monthly piracy checks on new publications
  • Building strong relationships with key internal colleagues across the audio team, and within the BBC.
  • To coordinate, support and negotiate with Indie producers for publishing rights when required

WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

  • Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 + London Weighting (£5,164) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

  • Location: Office Base is London. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working
