Are you an experienced financial leader looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a difference in education? Are you equipped to ensure accurate and timely preparation of management accounts while providing meaningful commentary to inform decision-making? This unique educational organisation is currently seeking a Finance Manager to join their close-knit team on a permanent basis. As Finance Director, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organisation’s financial management systems while providing strategic guidance to support their mission of delivering exceptional education.

The key duties of this Finance Manager are as follows:

  • Lead the accurate and timely preparation of management accounts, providing meaningful commentary for informed decision-making by senior management and the Trust Board.
  • Ensure compliance with the handbook, academies accounts direction, and charities SORP, serving as a key point of contact for auditors.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and review the school's annual budget, budget projections/forecasts, and resource plans.
  • Prepare monthly reports on income and expenditure, monitor budget performance, and provide financial advice to budget holders and senior management.
  • Coordinate the annual audit process, liaising with auditors and stakeholders to ensure timely completion and compliance.
  • Manage cashflow projections, cash handling, banking, fundraising, and VAT accounting to maintain financial stability.
  • Oversee the induction, training, professional development, and appraisal of finance staff, ensuring effective deployment within the team.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Accredited financial qualifications (CIPFA, AAT, ACCA, CIMA) or substantial experience.
  • Proven track record in financial management, encompassing budgeting, accounting systems, and producing management accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with auditors and resolve queries.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in office computer and finance software applications.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial control principles, budgeting processes, purchasing procedures, and legal compliance requirements.

For the right candidate, this role can also be offered on a part-time / term time only basis, but please note that the post holder will need to live within a commutable distance from their offices in Slough.
