About the role

Marketplace is a key pillar of our strategy to be 'Easily the Most Convenient' grocer, offering customers the opportunity to shop a broad range of 3rd party products, alongside their core grocery basket, seamlessly on Tesco.com. This role will lead the seller partnership team; developing, maintaining and maximising relationships with sellers to deliver a compelling range proposition for customers and achieve our GMV targets.

You will be responsible for

- Leading the end to end strategic development of the marketplace proposition to optimise for sales, profitability and customer satisfaction.

- Driving a culture of continuous improvment

- Ensuring the alignment of strategies and propositions across Marketplace and the wider online business

- Using insight showing customer needs, market trends and opportunities to increases sales & profit growth.

- Evaluating potential return on investment against agreed metrics to support portfolio planning and prioritisation.

- Ensuring opportunities and threats are well understood by key stakeholders.

- Delivering and optimising proposition projects; including stakeholder management, programme management and financial performance to deliver against the long-term and annual business plans.

- Working collaboratively with other teams to ensure knowledge is shared for more effective and efficient proposition development and testing.

- Managing relationships with key stakeholders to ensure all accountabilities are fulfilled and appropriate support is given to Marketplace.

- Developing and managing the Online programme and all business plans ensuring the execution and modifying the plan as required

- Forecasting and managing budgets effectively, always being cost conscious

- Leading an agile business squad, supporting with the adoption of agile ways of working and providing clarity through OKRs

- Developing and leading a high performing team, giving them opportunities to be their best

- Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence

You will need

Operational skills relevant for this job:

- Understanding of Online business models and economics

- Strong commercial acumen and understanding

- Ability to bridge between strategic thinking and pragmatic implementation

- Strong analytical skills to assess insights and opportunities

- Strong stakeholder management skills

- Strong communication and storytelling skills

- Ability to influence at all levels

Experience relevant for this job:

- Experience operating in a commercial, retail environment (preference for experience working with external suppliers)

- Experience working in e-commerce

- Strategy formulation, business development, corporate development in Online / Retail context
