Robert Half are delighted to be working in an exclusive partnership with Goulden Properties Ltd to recruit a Part-Time Accountant on a permanent basis. Based near Hursley, Goulden Properties offer a tranquil, scenic working environment in a converted barn on a small business estate. This is a part-time position (20 hours per week), ideally split over 3 days but with plenty of flexibility for the right candidate.

The Part-Time Accountant will play a key role in overseeing the finance function and work closely with the wider business, requiring a collaborative and hands on approach. Responsibilities include preparing month and year end accounts, streamlining and implementing processes and all aspects of transactional accounting activities across the business. ABOUT GOULDEN PROPERTIES LTD

Goulden Properties Ltd is a family run property management company that own a large portfolio of commercial and residential units across various locations in Hampshire.

The company was formed in 1956 by Frank Goulden and traded as F Goulden and Sons. Originally a house building company, it later transitioned to building industrial units in and around Romsey. In 1990 Goulden Properties was formed by Andrew, John, and Jeff Goulden. 3 of the 4 of Frank's children. It is now run by Nick Goulden (John's eldest son) and supported by a team of 4 additional staff & 2 directors. Turnover is approximately £3m p.a.

THE ROLE

The Part-Time Accountant role will be a varied, hands-on role that will be responsible for the smooth running of the finance function with an emphasis on preparing the month and year end accounts, having ownership of the transactional accounting activities and identifying opportunities to implement or improve processes and procedures.

The main duties of the Part-Time Accountant role will consist of the following:

Key Duties:

  • Preparing the month-end management accounts; accruals, prepayments, journals, balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, preparing detailed reports and schedules, P&L review and reconciliations, deferred income and revenue recognition.
  • Producing accurate and insightful management information.
  • Leading the year-end accounts production, liaising with the external Accountants to deliver accounts in a timely manner.
  • Submission of VAT returns, P11D's, CT61 etc to HMRC.
  • Issuing customer invoices for rents, service charges and insurance.
  • All aspects of credit control, banking and payments to third parties in a prompt and accurate manner.
  • Ownership and maintenance of the finance mailbox.
  • Liaising with customers and stakeholders, dealing with queries.
  • Reviewing and implementing processes/controls.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have 3+ years experience within a similar role.
  • Preferably AAT qualified or similar, qualified by experience will also be considered.

  • Inquisitive mindset.
  • Willingness to improve and implement processes.
