Freelancers are eligible to apply for an internal role if they are on a Worker Contract and they have worked continuously for 6 months. Job Introduction

Main Responsibilities

- Lead a team of digital journalists delivering daily news output in text and video for UK and international stories

- Identify news priorities and opportunities, and help shape the key stories of the day for digital audiences

- Maintain the highest editorial standards, making sure our stories are framed well, clearly written and feature the best of the BBC’s reporting

- Work closely with editors in Curation and Live to co-ordinate coverage in real time, and develop effective working relationships with correspondents and reporters

- Foster a culture of innovation and support with direct reports as well as with wider teams

Are you the right candidate?

- Significant experience of directing daily news teams to deliver text and video coverage for digital platforms

- Excellent news judgement under pressure with a proven ability to spot the sharpest top lines and drive stories forward

- Extensive experience of working with reporters and editors across the UK and globally

- A clear understanding of digital analytics and how they can be used to shape journalism that reaches both existing and new audiences

- A proven track record of driving organisational and cultural change, and improving diversity and inclusion

- Ability to build close relationships with teams across BBC News
