Sub-Rights Analyst, Finance - Royalties
The opportunity
Bloomsbury is a highly complex and fast-growing business operating globally across trade and non-trade. Bloomsbury royalties are therefore responsible for keeping pace with and delivering ahead of the evolving demands of the business. We are now recruiting for a new role, Sub-Rights Analyst, to join this busy team.
Bloomsbury’s Royalties team is responsible for ensuring our authors are paid accurately and on time. This includes accurately inputting contractual information into our Royalty System and maintaining this information, preparing royalty statements, handling queries both internal and external, and paying our Authors their monies.
This role reports into the Royalties Manager. The role will also work closely with Bloomsbury’s Royalties Accounting, Contracts, Editorial and Transactional Finance teams.
The role also involves working directly with our Authors and Illustrators so strong communication skills are key.
Bloomsbury are undertaking a project to implement a new Biblio royalty solution. This is an opportunity to join the royalties team during an exciting period of transition and change. Whilst the project is well supported from a royalties perspective, this role will play a key part in delivering the success of the project and the necessary process improvements the new system will enable.
The role
Authors and Agents
- Set up sub-right royalty rates, deal types and contracts in KEA
- Resolve internal and external queries relating to sub-rights
Systems (Royalty and Finance)
- Weekly review of sub-rights author share for Royalties Accounting
- Check of sub-right royalty rates for accruals on invoiced sales and payment receipts from KEA
- Check of sub-right deals for invoicing in Dimensions
- Process sub-right royalty earnings for KEA
- Process payment of sub-right royalty earnings
- Prepare the sub-rights file for unearned advance calculations
Internal Stakeholders
- Monthly reconciliation of sub-right royalties balance sheet control account
- Assist the Royalties team as needed including royalty runs
- Assist with interim and year end audit work
Other core activities
- Work with the Royalty Migration Manager on changes to process for Biblio
- Ideas for improving processes and controls
Knowledge, skills and experience
Critical
- Thorough understanding of double entry accounting through significant accounting experience
- Accounting qualification (AAT, CIMA), part or fully qualified
- Accurate and thorough
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Proven ability to deliver work to deadlines
Desirable
- Highly numerate with very strong excel skills
- Understanding of withholding tax rules
- In-depth knowledge of author contracts
- Royalties and sub-rights experience useful
- Experience of KEA and Biblio systems
Additional information
The role is a full-time permanent position
Salary Pay Point: £42,000
The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid-working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are: Monday and Tuesday
