Addington Ball have been appointed on this retained assignment to recruit an ambitious Commercial Director who wants an exciting challenge in accelerating growth. The Commercial Director will form part of the Board for this logistics business and work in step with the Managing Director and Finance Director.

The business is a leader in the dynamic logistics market and has achieved exceptional growth by offering its customers outstanding service, competitively. The company, based in Tamworth, continues to evolve and has developed in-house, a market leading transport management system (TMS) which will further enhance the winning proposition offered to its customers and potential customers.

The delivery sector is going through a time of change which is creating a lot of opportunities, and the TMS system has been developed to service this sector and provide a superior service offering with unique features for the customer. The Commercial Director will join to make a difference in this sector, set the standards and take the business to the next level.

Key focus will be to build and manage a team to identify and create new revenue streams as well as maximise the existing customer base. Setting out ambitious business goals with other members of the Board.

An opportunity has arisen for the Commercial Director role. This position will be a key contributor in the delivery of the company's ambitious goals over the next 3-5 years working with the other management team members. 

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and execution of commercial strategy. This to include both the existing core business and new revenue streams in line with the company's expansion strategy
  • Prepare departmental budget for both sales and marketing functions. 
  • Ensure compliance with targets
  • Meet/exceed sales volume, value and margin targets
  • Deliver a robust pipeline of new business opportunities and detail individual plans to offer a winning proposition. 
  • Effective management of CRM tool.
  • Specific responsibility for the major accounts
  • Manage and develop the strong account management process across all key accounts
  • Develop and execute Marketing Strategy for both existing and new business sectors
  • Full participation in Board activities and build effective working relationships with other key functions
  • Represent the company at industry associations, conferences and seminars
