The role

Credit Risk Manager – SME is a key role in balancing asset growth with credit quality as part of achieving the group’s financial objectives.

With responsibility for over £1bn annual turnover portfolio, This role manages financial risk exposure related to credit activities including; Management and design of UK Credit Policy to cover all customer credit risk decisions. The team is responsible for 4,000 SME underwriting decisions per month around 550 are manual.

This position has primary responsibility for the financial risk exposure related to extending credit and shared responsibility for the overall credit risk portfolio profile of the entity. The role performs various functions in addressing credit-related issues, including but not limited to risk and underwriting guidelines, credit culture awareness, and credit strategy.

Reporting directly to the Head of Credit Risk and will be managing a team of 2-3 direct reports.

Salary: up to £75,000

Bonus: Up to 22%

The Person

As a Credit Risk Manager – SME, you will have primary responsibility for the financial risk exposure related to extending credit and shared responsibility for the overall credit risk portfolio profile of the entity.

You will have the ability to perform various functions in addressing credit-related issues, including but not limited to risk and underwriting guidelines, credit culture awareness, and credit strategy.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and be accountable for the TEGP SME Credit Risk Strategy, and assure it’s in line with the Group and C-Suite guidance.
  • Establish and monitor Credit Risk related policies and procedures to meet TEGP sales and risk goals.
  • Provide leadership, support and development for the Credit Risk Team Members.
  • Support the delivery of strategic initiatives across SME to build scale, reduce manual touchpoints and enhance the controls environment.
  • Exercise Delegated Credit Approval Authority and/or make recommendations to Senior Management.
  • Collaboration with Collections to enhance data feeds into collections strategy model
  • Oversight of risk modelling related to bad debt and feeding into decision modelling tools
  • Continually strive to improve the Credit Vetting process considering accuracy, speed, quality of service and reporting – oversee system change program across CV, TMS, CRM and Pricing in respect of risk-related activity
  • Drive the implementation of intelligent automation solutions, such as robotics, to continuously improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Presentation to Credit Committee

Qualification/Experience required:

  • Demonstrable experience in credit risk management, including portfolio risk management and risk modeling.
  • Experience implementing Credit Risk Strategies, Scorecards, and Policy Rules.
  • Extensive knowledge of Decision Engines and how they work.
  • Working knowledge of other automated solutions (implementation and maintenance).
  • Experience using SQL, VBA, Business Objects, and QlikView
