Estimator in Bedfordshire

A modernised steel fabricator company are seeking an Estimator to join a friendly manufacturing team of 80 in Bedford.The Estimator Role The company undertake a wide variety of projects ranging from multi-million-pound developments and regeneration projects to smaller-scale creative new builds and commercial ventures.The incoming estimator will ensure tender bids are processed, completed & returned in a complete & accurate manner, within the timeframe requested by the client.Other duties include-Review drawings & Tender informationEstablish if the project is appropriate for the businessRecord and log tender informationCollate information from enquiries received and prepare tender bidsCheck through tender documents to ensure proposed contract terms are acceptable to the businessPreparing accurate take-offs of all applicable work from drawings. (Manually or using take off software)Liaise with internal departments to understand and interpret tender requirementsObtaining material prices from suppliers based on contract specificationsProduce cost sheets for all items of workProduce cost breakdowns/ summaryProduce a job cost budget for the projectProduce a written quotationAttending client meetingsDeveloping relationships with key clientsAttend post tender meetings with clientsNegotiate final tender sum with clientsCheck through PSI (Project specific instruction) & Contract documents to ensure contract information & terms reflect the tender documents & remain acceptable to the businessAllocate contract number and update sales ledgersReview position statementPreparing handover documents for the projects teamKeeping all records and database up to dateArrange and chair project handover meetingAttend client pre start meetingThe Estimator The ideal candidate will have previous experience in estimating, ideally from an architectural or structural steel background (minimum 5 years), along with the following;Experience in preparing tenders and take-offs from construction drawingsExcellent communication skills and ability to build relationshipsExcellent IT and computer skills, predominantly Microsoft Office suiteProfessional telephone skillsAbility to work well under pressureWell organised with excellent time managementAbility to work on a variety of projects simultaneouslyA valid UK Driving licenseIn Return?£45,000 - £55,000Monday to Friday 8am- 5.30pm25 days annual leave + bank holidaysFree parking onsiteCompany laptopEnjoyable working environmentPensionIf you are an experienced estimator seeking an exciting opportunity, please contact Gemma Hughes at Brandon James.(phone number removed)Ref: GH18505Estimator / Estimating / Metal Fabrication / Tenders / BIDS / Cost Planning / Brandon James
