Lead Android Engineer in London

The Role

We are looking for a product-minded, inquisitive and inventive Android Lead with a proven track record of delivering end-to-end applications or features. You should have a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and a sense of empathy for the customer.

At Carv, you will

• Lead the architecture and development of end-to-end features
• Manage the release lifecycle of the Android app
• Promote good practices and processes within the Software and Data Science teams
• Work closely with Product Management to scope and refine features

Role Requirements

• 5+ years software development experience
• Strong Kotlin and Jetpack Compose skills
• Experience managing the release process of Android apps including QA, CI/CD and stakeholder relationship management
• A keen eye for design, and a desire to build a beautiful native experience
• Customer oriented problem solver with excellent communication skills
• Experience with Rust or other backend languages (such as Go, Python or C++) with an interest in learning Rust
• Passion for skiing and commitment to personal improvement in the sport (beginner skiers welcome)

Our stack

• Kotlin front-end
• Majority Jetpack Compose UI, with some XML views in older components
• Support for Android 8 and above
• A Rust core shared by our iOS app, Android app, and backend server, ensuring a high level of platform parity
