A fantastic full-time opportunity for a professional Personal Assistant to support a wonderful lady (54) who has a spinal cord injury and scoliosis. £46,800.00 gross per annum.Nearest Tube/Station: StreathamWage/Salary: £18.00 gross per hour. £46,800.00 gross per annum.Driver Essential? A driver with their own car (Mileage paid) is preferable, but not essential. The client is happy to rent Zip Cars if candidates can drive but do not have their own vehicle. *This role is open to female candidates only.Essential: Experience supporting an adult with a spinal cord injury or supporting an adult with a physical disability that affects all 4 limbs such as Motor Neurons Disease (MND), Muscular Dystrophy or severe cerebral palsy. Experience in using hoists and providing manual handling and personal care.Desirable: Confident cook. Nursing background.Start Date: ASAPDays & Hours: Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 6.30pm. She lives in a cosy bungalow in South London with her Mum who has dementia. Jean likes to keep on top of the running of her household and is currently upgrading her lounge and garden. Jean’s Mum has Dementia and has her own carers that come in four times a day. Jean has a spinal cord injury and scoliosis and needs support with all aspects of her personal care, manual handling using hoists, transfers, and support with all her daily living tasks.Overview of role: Jean requires a Personal Assistant (PA) to support her with all aspects of her daily life. Jean needs support with her morning routine, including bowel management, catheter care and showering. Jean requires assistance to use her ceiling track hoist for transfers. Jean experiences spasms because of her spinal injury and will need her PA to be patient and confident to transfer her into her chair, and ensure she is in a comfortable position. Training will be provided by current members of staff. Cooking healthy meals is a big part of this role, for both Jean and her Mum, and variety of meals will be key to ensuring that Jean’s Mum eats well. Jean requires someone who can help support her with the running of her household, including shopping and meal planning, running errands, support with admin tasks and light household duties.Who this job would suit: This role will suit a confident and experienced Professional Support Worker/PA, with good experience supporting someone with a spinal injury or a similar physical disability that affects all four limbs such as Motor Neurons Disease (MND), Muscular Dystrophy or severe cerebral palsy.
