The Role:

Our client, an established London-based architectural studio, are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Practice Manager to join their stimulating and collaborative mid-sized studio. They pride themselves on urban projects ranging across the residential, cultural and education sectors.

Working closely with Senior Management, you will have a pivotal role in making strategic decisions for the success of the business and hold responsibility for the day to day running of the studio, ensuring outstanding standards. This varied role requires a very high level of organisation, administration, and previous Practice Management experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Senior Management Team on strategic goals and policy compliance (such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001)
  • Oversee HR functions, ensuring staff welfare and studio culture, consulting external HR advisors when needed
  • Manage resource allocation on projects with the senior team for optimal performance
  • Coordinate holiday schedules and provide necessary coverage for smooth operations
  • Lead annual performance and salary reviews
  • Guide recruitment, including job descriptions, offers, and contracts
  • Organise social and learning events for a positive studio environment
  • Assist with project management using Rapport 3
  • Manage company insurance and supervise R&D processes
  • Collaborate with Finance Manager on daily finances and budgeting
  • Handle office health and safety policies and procedures
  • Oversee IT strategy and work with consultants for GDPR compliance
  • Maintain business continuity plans
  • Coordinate annual client feedback

Key Skills:

  • Previous relevant experience in architecture or design fields
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Adobe and Rapport 3 is a plus
  • Strong writing and verbal communication abilities
  • Keen attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills
  • Skilled in juggling multiple tasks and setting priorities effectively
  • Understanding of bookkeeping, employment laws, and health and safety is advantageous
  • Positive and collaborative approach to team leadership and studio culture
  • Maintains poise and professionalism in all circumstances
  • Committed to upholding discretion and integrity
