Overview

Everest People Solutions are recruiting for a Production Supervisor for a business based in Spalding. As the Production Supervisor, you will oversee and manage a designated production area, ensuring that customer orders are fulfilled promptly and cost-effectively while minimising waste. This role requires adherence to customer quality specifications and health and safety guidelines. Additionally, it involves providing leadership and management to production employees. While team sizes, machinery, and product complexity may vary, the core responsibilities of all Area Controller roles remain consistent.

Key Duties & Responsibilities for the Production Supervisor

  • Develop, monitor, and control the daily plan to efficiently use resources and fulfil customer orders to require productivity and quality standards.
  • Ensure production orders/runs use stock in rotation, consume all material within KBS, allocate labour to lines, and close jobs upon completion. Raise any issues to the Production Manager.
  • Create and review daily staff rotas, allocate staff to production lines for optimal skill mix, and ensure sufficient weekend cover.
  • Assign work to each line at the start of the day and conduct initial reviews to ensure smooth operations.
  • Monitor actual performance and quality against customer specifications, identify problems, and take corrective actions to meet quality and productivity targets.
  • Investigate and respond to Commercial/Technical staff inquiries to address customer issues promptly.
  • Lead, motivate, and control staff to achieve work objectives.
  • Ensure operations are conducted safely and without harm to employees or others.
  • Conduct risk assessments, regular inspections, and audits, ensuring timely closure of actions.
  • Document and investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses.
  • Provide adequate information, instruction, training, and supervision to employees.
  • Utilise and promote short interval controls to manage operational costs and minimise non-value-added activities.
  • Determine overtime needs and set priorities when resources are insufficient.
  • Suggest changes to improve processes, timelines, and efficiency while reducing costs.
  • Ensure products conform to quality standards while maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Responsible for training and development, timekeeping, and assigning work to meet deadlines
  • Manage absence, disciplinary meetings, and return-to-work conversations.
  • Provide cover for the Production Manager during absences.
  • Comply with all relevant company policies and procedures, including Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Environmental, Technical, Equal Opportunities, Diversity & Dignity at Work, and Hygiene policies

Requirements for the Production Supervisor:

Essential:

  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • IOSHH Managing Safely certification.
  • Strong IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to positively influence and build strong relationships at all organisational levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Proven experience in developing and being fully accountable for their team and areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of quality and technical standards.
  • Experience managing KPIs across multi-disciplinary production lines.
  • Comprehensive understanding and management of GMP, health, and safety within their areas.
  • Responsibility for introducing, embedding, and maintaining all established and new processes and procedures.
  • Ensures timely completion of payroll.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with minimal impact on production operations.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the fresh produce industry.
