As Safety Case Manager (SCM) to manage and deliver nuclear safety cases for an assigned area of Nuclear Waste Services. Management of safety case delivery, implementation of safety case changes and delivery against the periodic review (LC15) programme. To identify engineering requirements and support engineering changes to plant and equipment. To support operations and liaise with Safety Case Owners. To ensure that safety case changes are delivered to time, cost and quality. To ensure that team members are developed to meet the requirements of SQEP roles, and that technical capability is maintained.Responsibilities Ensure effective management of the schedule for periodic review under LC15 (period review)Manage all incoming work demand in the SCM area, feeding work demand forward to the NSC team planning system. Manage implementation of any safety case changes and the safety case improvement plan and index of change. Ensure delivery to time cost and qualityEnsure effective support to the Safety Case Owners and Duly Authorise PersonsManagement of up to 3 safety case team members.Present safety case documents to MEHSC and NSC committees and ensure alignment with LC22 (modification) arrangementsProvide effective proactive and action orientated safety case support to nominated area of NWSCoordinate delivery with Safety Case Team members and with Operations and EngineeringEngage with supply chain, ensuring value for moneyEnsure effective development of NSC team members, graduates, and apprenticesCarry out audit, review and improvement / modernisation tasks Additional ResponsibilitiesSafety Case Manager (SQEP role)Intelligent CustomerAuthority to propose standard and non-standard safety case approachesDelivery of the operator and engineering trainingParticipating in research projectsEngagement with ONR and EA customers and waste service suppliers and other key stakeholdersKnowledge, Skills and ExperienceEssential Science, Mathematics or Engineering degreeQualified and experienced (SQEP2/SQEP 3) radiological / nuclear safety assessor, including application of safety case techniques and derivation of safety measuresExperience of leading HAZOPs and/or HAZCON studiesExperience of delivering safety case trainingExperience of safety case collaboration with engineering and operationsBroad experience of nuclear safety case practice, including strategy and implementationDesirable Presenting safety case documents to a safety committeeEngaging with, and working with supply chainAuthor of technical safety assessmentExperience of NWS safety case process and methodologyFor internal candidates currently on RWM T&C's, the RWM grade equivalent for this role is 5-4Who are we?Simply put, our job is to secure a safer future for us all.
