If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team as a SEMH Teaching Assistant.

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with children and young people who require additional support due to SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.

Based in Southampton, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored assistance to help these individuals overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both in the classroom and during extracurricular activities.

Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans and behaviour management strategies.

Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected.

Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to identify and address the specific needs of each student.

Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to relevant stakeholders as necessary.

Implement de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies when required to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.

Requirements:Previous experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours is highly desirable.

A compassionate and patient approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Relevant qualifications or training in education, psychology, social work, or related fields would be advantageous.
