A well-resourced Special Needs Unit within a sixth-form college in Greenwich are looking for Learning Support Assistants to join their staff on a full-time basis from September 2024.

The roleAs a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll be working within the specialist SEND unit within this vibrant and popular sixth form college.

Students within the unit are aged between 16 and 18 years and have a range of learning and development needs including Autism, ADHD and sensory needs.

You will work closely alongside qualified teachers and professionals to provide support for students within the unit.

There is a focus on enabling students to learn as effectively possible on their own and in groups, considering their needs.

You will be required to identify opportunities for the student (s) to work independently where appropriate.  

Duties will include:Supporting students attending the SEND unitAssisting with the general pastoral care of the studentsProviding support for students’ emotional and social needs by encouraging and modelling positive behaviour in line with the College’s Behaviour PolicyProvide one to one support, where requiredAssist in planning of activitiesAssist with the supervision of students outside of lesson times.
