What are we looking for in this position?

The Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager will be responsible for bringing expert knowledge to the team on construction costs and contracts and to oversee the work carried out on site at the live projects. They will provide feedback to the commercial and construction team and ensure that projects run to budget and to timeframes provided. They will ensure applications from subcontractors are certified on time and correctly and that our applications are submitted in accordance with the contract, and in all instances making sure we are fully compliant with The Construction Act.

Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Track and control project costs from start to finish.
  • Procurement: Handle sourcing, negotiating, and managing contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Contract Administration: Manage contract documents, assess variations, and resolve disputes.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Value Engineering: Optimize project value by exploring cost-effective design and construction methods.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial reports and forecasts for stakeholders.
  • Client Liaison: Maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders, communicating progress and addressing concerns.
  • Team Management: Lead and support a team of quantity surveyors, ensuring productivity and collaboration.

What will we need you to have?

  • Experience with Main Contracting
  • Experience with £15m + construction projects
  • Good understanding of contract law
  • Good understanding of business finance and financial reporting for construction businesses
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting and record keeping
