Due to growth of Renewable projects in Scotland, an exciting opportunity have arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong Commercial acumen.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be an essential member of our Commercial team and will contribute your expertise by providing day-to-day commercial support with an emphasis on delivering excellence. Ensure projects are delivered in line with client requirements, reviewing contract documentation, maximising value and minimising costs. You will be responsible for organising all procurement.

Communication and understanding client requirements are a key aspect of this role acting as liaison with internal and external stakeholders. You may be asked to support projects by attending client meetings.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensure projects are commercially managed in a safe and efficient manner, in line with contractual requirements, and delivered on projected margin levels where possible and justify where this is not the case.
  • Ensure data is collected according to contractual and company specifications.
  • Collate and review data and reports in conjunction with the processing & finance.
  • Maintaining accurate records.
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with clients, colleagues and suppliers.
  • Support the tendering process in identifying project requirements and the methods by which Glenevin can meet them.
  • Plan, Track, Advise and execute the procurement of sub-contractors, in line with payment terms dictated by the main contract and in line with drop down contractual obligations.
  • Administer and commercially manage subcontractors from conception to Final Account.
  • Ensuring that Contractor payment valuations are accurately assessed, challenged appropriately, certified and paid on time, with findings communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Investigate, Collate evidence and substantiation for maximising Early Warning and Compensation Events opportunities. Processing and agreeing Variations / Compensation Events to maximise revenue timeously and to contract conditions.
  • Take part in risk assessments and hazard identification, including bur not limited to Risk Reduction meetings.
  • Providing commercial support for project activities
  • Providing Programme, Project management team and Operations with advice and assistance on all matters relating to Contract Performance and Commercial issues in accordance with relevant contract terms and associated pricing option and /or best practice.
  • Accountable to the Delivery Director for maximisation of the commercial benefit of all subcontracts and effective management of contract changes in accordance with relevant contract terms and associated pricing options and /or best practice.
  • Reporting over measure or cost adjustments required to accurately represent performance.
  • Conforming with all company policies.

Skills and Requirements

  • Quantity Surveying background in the Construction/Utilities sector
  • Contract Experience - NEC/JCT
  • Good understanding and experience of CVR Reporting/Financial & Cost Control
  • Demonstrate ability to manage a small team
  • Ability to contribute to making commercial decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good negotiation skills with the ability to gain the desired outcomes for the business.
