Company Description


As a Tax Manager you will provide support and assurance to the Senior Tax Manager that Greene King is complying with all relevant requirements of the tax authorities.

The role is required to ensure that our accounting systems and processes are sufficiently robust to satisfy any internal or external audit or enquiry.

As a tax manager you will take responsibility for Corporation Tax, tax reporting and the group's PSA, working independently and taking decisions with using technical guidance subject to overall approval of any proposed projects from the Senior Tax Manager.

This role is operating from either our Bury St Edmunds offices or our Burton on Trent site on a hybrid working basis.

    Your role as Tax Manager 

  • Management of the group's Corporation Tax, tax reporting and PSA reporting. 
  • Provision of support and advice across all other taxes and SAO reporting.
  • Ensuring appropriate tax accounting systems and processes are in place and where necessary lead the process to implement any new processes and systems.
  • Optimise the group’s overall tax burden and cash flow by ensuring that all appropriate deductions and reliefs are claimed.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with your colleagues, external auditors and HMRC.
  • To support and develop the group's Assistant Tax Manager. 
  • What you’ll bring… 

  • Someone that can work independently, taking responsibility for decisions, demonstrates accuracy, attention to detail, dependability and integrity.
  • Experience of working in a tax function.
  • Ability to use and create advanced Excel spreadsheets.
  • Agility to diversify across a range of taxes / duties.
  • Seen as an expert in your field by your seniors / peers and an effective ambassador for the group tax function.
  • Qualifications...

  • ACA/ACCA/ ICAEW/ ICAS or IOT qualified.
  • Comprehensive and well-rounded understanding of UK tax laws, regulations and accounting standards.
  • Experience in tax strategy, compliance, reporting and risk management.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex tax matters to non-tax professionals.
  • Experience of using AlphaTax.
