Overview:MIDFIX are seeking a Buyer to join our purchasing team with particular responsibility for developing and implementing quality and sustainability procedures across the supply chain.Government legislation is driving major change in the construction industry resulting in an increasing demand for construction product compliance. MIDFIX are at the forefront of compliant products in our sector but recognise the importance of continually progressing and developing our product quality and quality control procedures.Likewise, sustainability is an increasing metric within construction and not currently a focus of our supplier base. This is an area we wish to get ahead on, and this role will assume leadership for developing sustainability criteria across our supply chain.Main Purpose of the Job: * Advance and develop the quality of MIDFIX products to achieve and maintain market leading status. * Develop product quality control procedures to ensure products meet MIDFIX brand expectations. * Ensure regulatory compliance of MIDFIX products. * Understand evolving industry sustainability requirements and develop supply chain sustainability criteria. * Procuring and managing stock for designated suppliers/product categories. * Purchase products of the required quality at the best prices. * Establish and cultivate mutually beneficial relations with suppliers. * Achieve close to 100% stock availability on managed categories. * Manage stock turnover days to eliminate overstocking and redundant stock. * Maintain and develop the profit+ system with up-to-date and valid information.Communicate vital information to connected departments.Key Tasks:Quality Management(Applies to all MIDFIX products/product categories) * Quality management of products is an important part of the role ensuring that all products meet the requisite standards and any issues are traced back and resolved with suppliers and possibly customers. * Setting product quality specifications in line with regulatory requirements, the Midfix reputation, and expectations of our customers for quality products. * Develop MIDFIX Product Specification/ Quality Documents for purchasing enquiries and goods-inwards inspection. * Advising and training goods-inwards in product quality inspection. * Ensuring Quality Inspection documents and Material Certificates are correct, complete and filed appropriately. * Ensuring the change management process is followed when changing suppliers and products. * Maintain records of product and supplier non-conformances and resolve promptly. * Maintain Approved Supplier Records for ISO9001, ISO14001 and FSC compliance.Price / Price System Management(Applies to your designated supplier/product categories)To ensure that: * MIDFIX obtain the best possible prices in the market for the appropriate level of quality and every legitimate opportunity is taken to reduce costs. * Supplier price increases are challenged and justified. * Price increases are documented and updated at agreed intervals. * Specific price changes and key market price information are communicated to the sales team to guide customer quoting. * Internal ERP system is maintained and updated with new parts added in a uniform format with product weights, locations and obsolete parts marked and cleansed as necessary.Stock & Stock Control(Applies to your designated suppliers/product categories) * OTIF - deliver industry-leading order fulfilment rates. * Set and manage appropriate product stock levels. * Maintain ‘stock fill’ level in line with set targets. * Reduce overstocking and redundant stock to minimum levels. * Manage backorder reports and ensure timely customer order fulfilment. * Coordinate with warehouse/goods inward teams for logistical planning.Supply Chain / Supplier Relationships(Applies to all MIDFIX products/product categories)Working in conjunction with purchasing colleagues to implement MIDFIX product quality requirements across the supply chain.Ensure suppliers understand MIDFIX quality requirements and consistently meet our expectations.Develop sustainability requirements and progressively implement across our suppliers.(Applies to your designated suppliers/product categories)To develop excellent and effective collaborative relationships with key suppliers that are mutually beneficial.Develop strong and resilient supply lines with chosen suppliers and markets to achieve a high level of supply security.Leverage suppliers' capabilities through close cooperation and interaction to support MIDFIX activities in the market.Arrange visits to and from suppliers to showcase Midfix and gain information, knowledge and ideas.Consolidate suppliers eliminating under-performing suppliers and developing new ones.Ensure supplier issues are resolved in a timely manner and improvements implemented.No agencies please
