Editorial Assistant in London

EMJ is seeking an enthusiastic EditorialAssistant to create and commission content for our journals. Thisrole offers a unique opportunity for those starting or advancing aneditorial career within a dynamic organisation. The ideal candidatewill have a background in life sciences and a passion for contentediting. This is a role with a diverse set of duties includingjournal management content commissioning peer review as well ascopy editing and proofreadingcontent.

Expectations

• Managejournal pipelines by ensuring timely processing and publication ofcontent inline with thepublishing schedule
• Useresearch skills and medical knowledge to assist in commissioningjournal content
• Write journal &newsletter content including congress reports interview questionsand news stories
• Oversee the peer reviewprocess to help determine the suitability of articles forpublication
• Maintain and develop relationshipswith Editorial Board members and othercontributors
• Opportunities to copy edit andproof content to ensure compliance with the EMJ house styleprocedures specifications and guidelines
• Attendcongresses (physical or virtual) across different clinical areastoensure appropriate reporting around congress keyhighlights
• Commission and organise webinars andpodcasts by working alongside expertsin the field acting as guestliaison
• Produce different formats of content byscript writing and audiovisual editing
• Workclosely with our Design and Marketing departments to ensure asmooth publicationprocess

ExperienceRequired

• BiomedicalScience or Life Science degree
• Excellentwriting and English language skills
• Strong ITSkills MS (Excel and Word)
• Welldevelopedcommunication and interpersonalskills
• Enthusiastic and dedicated teamplayer
• Ability to learn quickly andmanage/prioritise a highvolume workload linked to tightdeadlines
• Excellent attention to detail andability to take instruction
• Adheres to companyquality standards
• Passionate about medicalpublishing
• Driven and ambitious individual whohas a Gold Medal Winnermindset
