Environment & Sustainability Advisor

Hybrid working with office and site attendance 

We are currently recruiting for an Environment and Sustainability Advisor to join our talented team based in Southampton, supporting projects across the UK. The Environment and Sustainability Advisor provides advice and support across the Company, to all departments and operational sectors. The aim is to further integrate sustainability into Trant Engineering activities, to drive improvements and embed the principles throughout the organisation. 

Reporting to the Environment and Sustainability Manager, duties include: 

· Completing site support visits and inspections across all sectors with a focus on environment and sustainability. Increasing awareness of the sustainability challenges relating to Trant’s work activities, assessing environmental management compliance and impact, assisting with data reporting and helping solve challenges that the site team may have.

· Communicating environmental and sustainability requirements across the company.

· Upskilling others in environmental best practice and sustainability by visiting sites, working with different departments and developing and delivering training sessions.

· Support projects in all stages of a project lifecycle by providing advice and reviewing project-specific information such as ecology surveys, environmental consents and permits, construction environmental management plans, site waste management plans and documents related to planning permission.

· Development and review of processes and procedures that form the Business Management System, with a focus on environment and sustainability. Involvement with focus groups that look at central procedures to integrate sustainability into processes.

· Investigate lower severity environmental incidents and support with investigation of higher severity incidents.

· Assist with greenhouse gas emissions inventory data management and submissions such as the Carbon Disclosure Project and reports to Clients. Driving improvements to data management.

· Lead on implementing initiatives to reduce emissions and support company Net Zero emissions targets. Assisting with the development and delivery of Sustainability Strategy, Carbon Reduction Plan & targets (including subsidiary company Te-Tech Process Solutions).

· Liaise with Clients and members of the supply chain via engagement meetings and ad hoc discussions, broadening your professional network.

· Assist with work winning and business development activities. 

Qualifications: 

· Degree in environmental or engineering discipline (or similar).

· Membership of relevant professional body, such as IEMA or CIWEM. 

Skills:

· Good communication skills, ability to speak to people across all levels of the organisation.

· Ability to explain sustainability concepts to people clearly and in a way that is easy to understand.

· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint and the Microsoft 365 suite.

· Passionate in all aspects of sustainability and has the desire to make positive change.

· Full driving license.

· Knowledge of sustainability challenges in the construction industry and across engineering disciplines.

· The ability to solve problems, act on initiative and be proactive.
