About Cera

At Cera Care, our mission is to empower people to live longer, healthier, and better lives in their own homes. We don’t just care more, we care better. We want to be the global leader in revolutionising affordable care for the better, for our service users and society and the perfect coordination across care practice, data, science and technology is how we’ll get there.

About Data & Analytics at Cera

Data is integral to Cera’s success. It guides our operational workforce, from caregiver recruitment to care delivery to our client base, and provides insights for performance improvement and cost-efficiency. Health-related data offers a comprehensive financial overview that could lead to cost savings and crucially lead to health deterioration prevention. Data is vital for gauging financial health, enabling informed decisions for optimised budget allocation and sustaining the delivery of commissioned services to local communities.

The primary mission of our Data team is to empower both our head office and frontline care staff with unparalleled organisational insights. Our overarching objective is to equip the team with the capability to address any inquiry and possess profound insights into every facet of the care provided.

To achieve this ambitious goal on a large scale, our team is a dynamic blend of individuals with expertise in analytics, inquisitive minds who pose insightful questions, and subject matter experts who go the extra mile to comprehend the intricacies of data. This collaborative approach ensures a comprehensive understanding of the data landscape, enabling us to transform complex information into easily digestible and actionable insights. Our team is not only skilled in analytics but is also enriched with domain experts who bring a wealth of knowledge and a nuanced understanding of the intricacies of the care sector. This synergy allows us to deliver sophisticated insights that empower our teams to make informed decisions and enhance the quality of care we provide.

About this role

Finance is crucial in the social care industry for sustaining quality services through budget management, resource optimisation, and financial stability. Adequate funding is essential for hiring skilled caregivers, investing in training, and scaling Cera’s innovative technologies. Sound financial management ensures regulatory compliance, transparency, and stakeholder trust. In essence, finance is the backbone, ensuring service viability and meeting the diverse needs of individuals in care.

As the Finance Data Analyst, you will play a crucial part in ensuring financial sustainability, monitoring key performance indicators, and identifying opportunities for increasing both cost savings and revenue. In the dynamic landscape of a scaleup, the Finance Data Analyst will look to adapt analytical methodologies to address emerging challenges and support Cera in making informed financial decisions that contribute to the overall success and long-term growth.

You will collaborate with a team of finance and data professionals to define and develop metrics focused on identifying financial opportunities for performance improvement. Your primary responsibility will be enhancing our financial performance tracking through the use of analytical and visualisation tools within the Google Cloud Platform suite. The role will encompass the desire to contribute to best practices in data-related topics, such as data quality monitoring and data visualisation, while also gaining leadership skills within our data team. Working alongside diverse data experts and finance professionals, you will have ample opportunities to expand your skill set in areas complementary to the finance-focused data analyst role.

What you’ll do

  • Apply problem-solving skills to translate financial business questions into efficient data-driven solutions
  • Develop analyses on financial data, leveraging expertise in process knowledge to support teams
  • Craft insightful data stories through report and dashboard creation to enhance financial performance
  • Create new metrics and attributes in data models to expand our analytics platform
  • Conduct in-depth examinations to capture business rules, validating assumptions with data analysis
  • Collaborate with key financial stakeholders to deliver reports that provide actionable financial insights
  • Work with engineers to enhance and document data quality and integrity at the source
  • Contribute to refining data accuracy, availability, granularity, and overall robustness
  • Collaborate with fellow data and finance professionals to achieve successful outcomes

Who you are

  • Ideally from a mathematics, statistics, econometrics, physics, or similar numerically-focused background, you possess a natural curiosity and numerical acumen
  • A team player with a sense of ownership, you take pride in delivering high-quality results
  • Committed to making data user-friendly across the business, you thrive in a fast-paced, complex data environment, ensuring value for both care operations and individuals in our care
  • You collaborate across product, engineering, and operations teams, connecting their worlds to data for reporting and insights, prioritising carers, branch managers, and service users
  • Maintaining high standards for our data warehouse and pipelines, you contribute valuable skills to addressing the societal challenge of affordable high-quality care
  • While we welcome data expertise from any sector, interest or desire to work in health and social care is a bonus. Experience in data analysis within rapidly growing technology startups is also an asset

What you’ll need

  • 3+ years of analytical experience collaborating with stakeholders across departments, utilising SQL (Dataform, Bigquery) to process and analyse data efficiently
  • Be a data modelling expert who can shape data for stakeholder needs using LookML/SQL/Python/R
  • Proficient in using BI tools (e.g. Looker or similar) to build reporting dashboards and define metrics for end-user adoption
  • Be detail-oriented with analytical skills to validate assumptions, ensure data quality, and provide insights linking to the broader context
  • Evidence of application of statistical and financial principles to aggregate insights effectively
  • Be a skilled data storyteller, adept at using data visualisation and a blend of qualitative and quantitative insights to convey hidden messages in data
