Details of this position:This position is for a full time Functional Skills Tutor to work in prison education.As a Tutor delivering education in prisons, you can really make a difference to improve people's lives. Challenging, yet extremely rewarding, this role plays a significant part in helping to reduce our learners re-offending.Identifying the individual needs of learners ensuring that all learners have an individual learning plan which links to their long-term employment goals.Continually reviewing our learner's progression to ensure that the training continues to meet their identified needs.Preparing, delivering and reviewing comprehensive lesson plans for all sessions that address the training needs of the group including basic literacy, numeracy, language and other social / employability barriers to employment.Actively gaining feedback from learners and other sources, reviewing & improving curriculum content accordingly.Work schedule: Full time 37 hours per weekSalary scale: Up to £30,000 per annumAnnual leave: 30 days per annumTo be considered, suitable candidates will need to meet the following criteria:Maths and English Level 3 needed for Functional Skills TutorsFull teaching qualification at Level 5 or above or equivalent ( e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, DTTLS) or willingness to work towardsConfidence in using a diverse range of presentation, facilitation and communication skills.The ability to handle challenging situations whilst remaining calm and in control especially in a group situation.Respect for and understanding of Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety and Data Protection policies with specific attention to health and safety requirements when organising off-site activities.A passion to motivate and lead by example to support people to achieve qualifications.BenefitsGenerous annual leave entitlement.A paid PeoplePlus Life event day each yearCycle to work schemeAccess to hundreds of discounts via the Additions portalEmployee Assistance ProgrammeAccess to online wellbeing centreA paid volunteering day each yearEnhanced Maternity schemeSharesave schemeRefer a Friend reward schemeHoliday purchase schemePension schemeLife assuranceThe successful candidate will be required to obtain the appropriate prison clearance before starting the role and maintain this throughout employment.Suitable candidates will need to be enthusiastic, resilient and have a humanistic approach.
