Since its inception in Geneva in 1968, the International Baccalaureate (IB) has sought to bring about positive, tangible change through education.

The mission of our founders was to create a better, more unified and peaceful world.

In the 56 years since, we have become known for excellence and leadership in international education, with alumni leading positive change across the world.

Some have gone on to lead countries, explore space on NASA missions, and excel in many fields including: science, medicine, finance, business, the law, politics and international relations and the visual and performing arts.

We are now seeking a Member who can contribute to the IB’s future at this time of complexity and transformation around the globe to join the IB Board of Governors.

Members of the IB Board of Governors are committed to providing robust governance, counsel, and insight in support of the mission, strategy, and policies of the IB.

They also ensure that the organization stays responsive to future challenges and competition.

Members must demonstrate relevant external professional expertise, as well as uphold the highest standards of governance and ensure the IB’s institutional commitment to inclusion, equality and diversity.

They will also act as international advocates, supporting IB engagement with our partners across the world.

We are looking forward to hearing from individuals from the wider world of education, or from public, private, or charitable organizations, who are committed to the further advancement of international education with a distinct appreciation for the IB philosophy and who can dedicate time to the role.

We are particularly interested in those who could bring finance and organizational leadership skills to our Board.

We entrust the growth of our mission to outstanding people, and as a Member of the Board of Governors, you will play a crucial role.
