Grave Digger in Stockport

Sure Start Staff is looking for a Grave Digger to work for the Local Authority in Stockport.Employment Type: Temporary reviewed after 2 monthsPay rate: £13.50 per hourHours: Full time, 8.00am – 4.30pmLocation: Mill Lane Cemetery, StockportDuties include (but are not limited to) * Dig and prepare graves with a mechanical excavator or hand tools * Maintain lawns, verges and plants around the cemetery * Keep pathways clear, empty bins and remove litterRequirements/Experience/Skills * Previous grave digging experience desirable * Grounds maintenance experience desirable * Machine excavation, hand excavation, backfilling excavation * Physical ability to carry out lifting, handling and hand excavation * Ability to work to timescales, sometimes under pressure & be able to follow instructions * Familiarity with installation of excavation shoring & all H&S implications * Previous experience of using a mechanical excavator (Bobcat 1.7 series) * Experience of using Thwaites dumper (1 tonne) * To work in adverse weather conditions as necessary * Driving licence desirable * The ideal candidate will have previous experience of using a mechanical excavators and site dumpers, however training will be given * People skills - You will be empathetic and sensitive towards the visitors to the cemetery that you may come into contact withAll our roles may be subject to pre-employment checks including references.To apply for this position, please submit your online application form through CV Library and ensure you highlight the experience and skills which relate to the role.Please note - due to the number of applications we receive we are only able to contact those candidates that are successfully shortlisted for the position.
