Purpose of Role

The Boat Builder will report to the Boat Builder Manager, who is based at our Southampton Site and will be responsible for making and fitting various components across our range of boats, working to precise measurements and details.

Key Job Responsibilities

Fitting ply bulkheads.

Epoxy lay-up of sub-assemblies.

Making and fitting cabin sole bearers.

Cladding bulkheads with polished veneered ply.

Making and fitting a variety of boat furniture.

Making and fitting sole boards.

Basic upholstery work on overhead panels etc.

Making and hanging cabin doors.

Levelling Boats

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications required to perform the role

Knowledge

Robust boatbuilding construction knowledge

Competent manufacturing knowledge (timber, fibreglass products as an example)

Knowledge of safe working practices and good understanding of Health and Safety

Skills

Excellent communication skills

Skilled use of hand and power tools

Reading and understanding technical drawings

Experience

Experience of working with raw materials and tools to a good standard

Previous experience in the marine industry working with timber/GRP boats (Desirable)

Qualifications

Relevant C&G Qualifications or equivalent

Personal Characteristics

High levels of attention to detail

Self-motivated

Comfortable working at pace with high volume of work

Team player
