MB443: Mechanical Design Engineer (Aviation)Location: Staverton, GloucestershireSalary: £65,000 - £75,000Working Hours: Monday to Friday - (Flexi hours available and hybrid option - 2 days in the office)Company Benefits: Generous holiday allowance, Matched contribution pension scheme up to 8% of salary, Life assurance, Employee share scheme, Employee shopping savings portal, Payment of Professional Fees, Reservists in the armed forces receive 10-days special paid leave, Holiday Trading is a benefit that allows the majority of employees to buy additional leave or to sell up to one working week of annual leave from their annual entitlement, ‘Be Kind Day’ enables employees to take one working day's paid leave a year (or equivalent hours) to undertake volunteering work with their chosen organisation or registered charity.Overview:First Military Recruitment is proudly working in partnership with a fantastic business who are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong aviation background on a permanent basis due to growth based at their Staverton (Gloucestershire) depot.Some Flexibility of working hours is available on agreement with the Hiring manager however the role requires 2 days based on site due to the nature of work carried out.Duties and Responsibilities:Management of the mechanical design engineering team in the production of part, assembly and installation drawings, in compliance with the Design Office Handbook and relevant Certification Basis e.g., CS-27, CS-29 etc.Supporting the development and growth of the mechanical design engineering team.Supporting the development and evolution of processes and procedures relating to mechanical design.Where approved by the Head of Airworthiness, be accountable for the checking and compliance verification of design data produced within the Design Organisation.Liaison with other Senior Engineering functions and external sub-contractors relating to mechanical/structural design aspects of the delivery.Focal point for the production and installation engineers in matters relating to mechanical/structural design.Creation of and contribution to customer facing design reviews throughout the design life-cycle.Management and execution of detailed aircraft surveys during quotation and delivery stages.Ensure company health, safety and environmental procedures are implemented and complied with at all times.Skills and Qualifications:HNC / HND / Degree in a relevant engineering subject.Previous experience working within an Aerospace Design Office as a Structures (Panel 3) check signatory and CVE or be able to evidence significant progress towards this.Proven record of creating conceptual structures / mechanical designs.Knowledge of, and the ability to select, appropriate mechanical/structural techniques and solutions for aerospace applications e.g., material selection, corrosion protection, fuselage hardpoint interfaces, cabin structures.Knowledge of current and future aerospace structural manufacturing processes.Experience leading people and/or projects in a complex engineering environmentExperience of the full design life cycle from conception to delivery of design packages.Experience compiling / verifying compliance reports.Understanding of ergonomics and associated design principles.Proficient user of Solid Works CAD (training can be provided).Knowledge of CAA / EASA Part 21 Subpart J (DOA) & G (POA) requirements.MB443: Mechanical Design Engineer (Aviation)Location: Staverton, GloucestershireSalary: £65,000 - £75,000Working Hours: Monday to Friday - (Flexi hours available)Company Benefits: Generous holiday allowance, Matched contribution pension scheme up to 8% of salary, Life assurance, Employee share scheme, Employee shopping savings portal, Payment of Professional Fees, Reservists in the armed forces receive 10-days special paid leave, Holiday Trading is a benefit that allows the majority of employees to buy additional leave or to sell up to one working week of annual leave from their annual entitlement, ‘Be Kind Day’ enables employees to take one working day's paid leave a year (or equivalent hours) to undertake volunteering work with their chosen organisation or registered charity
