Mechanical Engineer in Cumbria

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer with a background in the nuclear or defence sector to be engaged on a permanent basis in Whitehaven, Warrington or Manchester, with site visits 2/3 days a week. The Role:As part of our business you will work with a team of engineers to provide design and engineering support for a variety of projects and for a variety of clients; a good portion of our work is for clients in West Cumbria and within the nuclear decommissioning market.In the Mechanical Engineering team, we deliver most of our work in the study, concept design and detailed design phases. However, this has been expanding over the last few years to encompass the full project lifecycle, with more of our focus required to deliver and support commissioning, installation, FAT testing, site testing, on-site operations, and on-site demolition/decommissioning.Within the role you could be involved in delivering engineering design solutions throughout the full design lifecycle, including preparation of 3D models, hand calculations, mechanical analysis reports, various drawings and supporting technical documentation. You could be assigned various tasks including leading teams of engineers and technicians on project tasks, detail checking the work of others, originating specific deliverables, whilst ensuring that work is delivered on time and in accordance with the appropriate Quality Assurance (QA) processes.The Individual:You will possess a good understanding of engineering principles, with experience in delivering solutions to technical problems, engineering design, technical calculations & analysis, and 3D model & drawing production.You will understand various technical, safety and legislative documentation, such as risk assessments, CDM regulations, method statements, UKCA Technical Files, etc.You will be motivated and proactive with a willingness to learn and adapt.
