Mechanical Engineer – Power StationExcellent Salary + bonus + benefitsKnottingley, YorkshireMC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join an  energy from waste power station near Knottingley, Yorkshire. This plant processes over 700,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste per year producing around 85MW for the grid, enough to power up to 170,000 homes.As the Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for all maintenance and engineering aspects associated with the sites mechanical equipment to maintain high plant availability.As the Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for: Supervising and managing a small team of Technicians responsible for planned and reactive maintenance work across the sitePromoting general safety within the maintenance department and within the contractors employed by then. This includes the approval of safe systems of workEnsuring compliance with all statutory inspections ensuring all documentation is complete and up to date – e.g. PSSR, LOLER, PUWERWorking with the EC&I Engineer and Maintenance Manager in the planning and execution of planned and unplanned outages / shutdownsUsing the site CMMS to ensure a strong prioritisation of preventative maintenanceGenerating contract scope of works for service contracts and takes part in contract performance reviews with procurement and site management staffDevelop specifications for long term service agreements and maintenance contracts for the siteManaging supervising on site contractors ensuring site compliance at all timesFurther details can be gained on requestTo be considered for this role you should have: An apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or similar along with an HND/HNC level qualificationIdeally a minimum of 5 years post apprenticeship experience in a mechanical maintenance / engineering function in the power generation sector or similar – paper mill, steel works, chemical plant etcSupervisor or Team Leader experience would be advantageous but not essentialA thorough understanding of engineering and maintenance principles associated with rotating and static plant found on an EFW plant including turbines, boilers, pumps, compressors, water treatment plant etc.A good understanding of power generation legislation such as PUWER, LOLER, PSSR etcWhat’s on offer with this roleA competitive basic salary depending on experienceA performance related bonusPrivate medical and dental coverOvertimeCompany pensionThe chance to join the growing EFW sector at a relatively new plantIf you are interested in this role, please apply via the link below or contact Will at MC Technical Recruitment on (phone number removed) / (url removed) for a confidential chat
