Operations Accountant in Histon

The Role

Hain Daniels are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant at our Histon Site. In Histon, we manufacture a host of ambient sweet spreads and jellies for our grocery brands. These includes Hartley's jams and jellies, Gale's honey, Rose's and Robertsons marmalade's.

Job Summary  Provide Finance and Accounting service to and for the site complying with general accounting standards and company policies & procedures. Role is to support the day to day running of financial information, comprising of weekly P&L flash reporting, monitoring labour cost, raising PO’s, assisting site with raising PO’s (invoice resolution) and general advice to site to ensure ERP transactions post to correct ledgers. The role will use this data to manage the month end process and will have responsibility for the Site P&L/Balance sheets.
The role will also be exposed to Cost Accounting, and Capital expenditure.
The role will provide support to the Senior Operations Accountant and Senior Operations team. Key Responsibilities: Weekly Flash reporting - 25% 

Support cross divisional development of weekly reporting and processes.

Compile Operational P&L costs and analyse variances and unusual transactions, put in place amendments to correct transactional errors, provide suggestions/highlight areas for operations to reduce costs:

Interrogation of numbers will require interaction with most departments within Grocery.

Improve processes and data control as see fit.

Compile Labour costs, Liaise with Temp Agency (1 per week)

Monitor ERP finance errors, and correct.

Monitor Stock status provisions.

Month End Processing & Budgeting - 25% 

Compile Month End P&L and perform Month End close in timely manner, create and post journals for the Ops P&L, provide analysis on variances.

Support the creation of annual Budget and forecasting for site.

Set up month end and post month end files.

Create and Post Journals - Investigate and correct variances / anomalies.

Reconcile Balance Sheet Accounts

Identify and correct ERP errors and remove root causes

Compile KPI report for FGM and other reporting required by Group Finance.

Operations Management - 25% 

Investigate variances and communicate to SLT to enable site improvement.

Identification of trends and variations within these results.

Exposure to Costings under guidance of Operations Accountant,

Assist SLT with project costings, first point of contact for day to day Finance queries

Reconcile stock movements on a monthly basis to verify month end stock figures and production usages.

Assist with Preparation of forecasts and annual budgets in line with Head Office requirements

Continuous Improvement - 15% 

Have knowledge of the CI tool and current projects and how they impact the P&L/EBIT

Assist manufacturing in looking at cost reduction improvements with support from Management Accountant.

Ensure Finance SOP’s are up to date

Identify own training needs and with SOA agree a time plan for achieving this

Ad-hoc tasks - 10% 

Assist other team members with ad-hoc enquiries e.g. Interrogate systems for financial information.

Communication

Presentation of financial information regarding aspects of performance to Site leadership.

Support the development of financial information to a divisional standard.

Communicate with operations to identify reasons for variances, assist with finance queries and relate financial information to non finance colleagues so as to be understood.

What you will need for the role / what it will take:

Education 

Newly Qualified, or Late stage (Strategic/Case study) - CIMA/ACCA

Experience

Manufacturing experience and advantage, role would suit a candidate qualified within small Business looking for more scope.

Key Capabilities 

High Degree of Excel Spreadsheet skills

Self motivated with a willingness to learn.

Good interpersonal skills as interaction with a number of operational staff.

ERP experience preferred but not essential.
