Blackstone Recruitment are working with a provider of education, care and support services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities who are recruiting for a Teacher (Primary) for their school in Surrey.

They help each child to overcome their barriers to learning and social development, so they can fully re-engage with education and enjoy everything that school life has to offer.

They adjust and regularly review the balance between academic study and therapeutic support to best meet individual needs.

While the focus is always on increasing independence to better prepare the children for ‘real life’, if a child is experiencing difficulties they increase therapeutic support to get them back on track.

They offer their pupils access to a pathway that has the potential to extend throughout their academic career.

With the right support, most of their pupils go on to achieve academic success through GCSEs or equivalent qualifications.

The role:They’re currently looking to recruit a Primary Teacher to join their team.

The successful candidate will be delivering high quality teaching and learning.

The students are aged between 6 – 16 with difficulties with communication and social interaction, typically associated with Autism.

There is also a full therapy team on site to support staff and students.

Although the sites operate separately, students and staff do cross between sites.

Experience:Successful candidate is likely to demonstrate the following: * To contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical, and social needs of the students within a learning environment.

* To work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

To maintain and use short-, medium- and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.

* To set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for everyone.

To monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination, and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through school policies and procedures.

* To develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.

To contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.

* To provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge.

To maintain an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism in order to be able to plan for effective teaching and learning.

* To work in a non-confrontational way to ensure individual needs are met.

Please note that duties will vary, and you will be expected to contribute to the overall aims of the school when required.

Skills and Qualifications: * PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training * Experience of teaching secondary age in a primary manner desirable.

* Ability to teach across a range of subjects.

* Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH and PDA profile * Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures * Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challengeWhat’s in it for you?
