Morgan Hunt is proud to be partnering with a dynamic institution based in the South West of England, seeking a Procurement Category Manager to join the team. You will play a pivotal role in optimising the efficiency and effectiveness of procurement processes within the company.

You will manage a defined category/portfolio of expenditure, ensuring compliance with relevant procurement legislation, managing associated risks, and identifying opportunities for savings and efficiency's.

Day rate: £ - £.54

Contract length: 3 - 6 months

Working arrangement: Fully remote working available

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Analyse category expenditure to develop and maintain a 12-24-month category strategy/plan.
  • Proactively engage with internal stakeholders to prioritise procurement activity and resource allocation.
  • Prepare, release, evaluate, and award competitive tenders in compliance with relevant procurement legislation and policies.
  • Analyse supply markets to understand and mitigate associated risks.
  • Act as the Procurement project lead on procurement projects, managing contracts and suppliers to optimise performance.
  • Support the development and maintenance of procurement tools, processes, policies, and training initiatives.
  • Provide professional procurement advice to internal stakeholders and help align their processes to procurement systems.
  • Knowledge of supplier markets, particularly as applied to the Public Sector.
  • Previous experience of planning, tendering, letting, managing, and measuring contracts
  • Knowledge and understanding of legislation affecting the supply of goods and services
  • Implement and adhere to effective Behaviours Framework, ensuring alignment with the organisation's values and objectives.

  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (or working towards)
  • Degree-level qualification
  • Project Management qualification
  • Diplomatic and confident relationship builder
  • Strong negotiator
  • Procurement data analysis and interpretation
  • Experience of managing defined categories of expenditure
