Production Department ManagerJob Type: Full-time, PermanentLocation: CroydonSalary: £40,000 - £50,000The Production Department Manager is a pivotal role within our clients' operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the department. This role involves managing and motivating the production team, maintaining high standards of quality, and driving continuous improvement within the production environment.You will create and maintain key Relationships with Internal teams, (Senior Management, Team Members, Sales, Customer Service, Purchasing, HR, Finance, Quality, Stores, and other production departments), including external customers.Day to Day of the Production Department Manager role:Develop and maintain a comprehensive schedule of all outstanding work, including job time estimates for long-term planning.Allocate resources effectively, ensuring fair distribution of work and adherence to deadlines.Monitor team compliance with company policies and procedures, including health and safety standards.Conduct HR-related activities such as inductions, training, recruitment, appraisals, and performance management.Maintain up-to-date risk assessments and ensure all team members are trained in safe working practices.Drive continuous improvement through KPI monitoring, 5S activities, and process enhancements.Manage quality control within the production process, addressing non-conformances and implementing improvements.Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration, ensuring all tools are in good working order.Engage with various systems including non-conformance, engineering change, works instructions, and health and safety management. Required Skills & Qualifications of the Production Department Manager:Proficiency in written and verbal English.Minimum GCSE level in English and Maths.Higher-level qualification in engineering (HND or bachelor's degree).Proven experience in a manufacturing and engineering environment.Supervisory experience is preferred.Strong computer skills, particularly in MS Excel.Knowledge of databases, Microsoft Access preferred.High standards and expectations of self and others.Driven, highly organised, and an excellent communicator.Ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload.Ambitious, motivated, proactive, and self-starting.
