Production Quality EngineerWe work with a very interesting company that are involved with underwater innovations relating to surveillance (Sonar and Acoustic Technology) for Energy, Oil & Gas and Defence clients.Provide hands-on quality engineering expertise to ensure products and services meet customer requirements. Facilitate, train and support the business in the deployment of Quality improvement initiatives. Manage KPI's and ensure preventative actions are taken to maximise success. Ensure supplier quality excellence, supporting purchasing and inspection and ensuring quality excellence is carried out within production and new product designs. Aid productivity improvements with project(1)based activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduced waste, improve quality and safety and reduce operating costs.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with production, quality and engineering personnel to determine critical part featuresand review manufacturability of design. Make recommendations to modify product and processspecifications and tolerances as necessary to support cost effective production.Provide quality engineering support to operations ensuring consistent application of qualitytechniques.Resolve quality issues of capability, tolerancing, and materials related issues.Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing actionplans, and providing resources.Effectively communicate and reinforce my client's commitment to quality improvement efforts.Assisting NPI department in pre-production process ensuring quality excellence is achieved onproduct prior to release to production.Working closely with NPI team to ensure pre-production process is supported and qualityinformation is gathered and reported before product release.Participate in the use of a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) where required.Facilitate and promote use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root causeanalysis and effective corrective action.Coordinate with Sales, Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Toolroom to resolve supplierconcerns.Apply appropriate Measurement System Analysis tools and define, manage, and report on theproduction key performance indicators (KPI's)Recommend and implement enhancements to the quality system that result in improved qualityperformance, increased customer satisfaction, and/or simplification of processes to reduce costs.Perform supplier audits as required and provide ongoing communication/reporting of results.Participate in the reporting, analysis and review of product and process performance to identifyopportunities for improvement.Produce supplier quarterly summaries to support supplier purchasing reviews and audits.Supporting mechanical inspection quality decisions and investigations with a view to reducingengineering support resources.To maintain, manage and improve non-conformance reporting (NCR) system and allocation of tasksas part of MRB review.Assertiveness - readily offer opinions and take action even when their position may be unpopular.Communication - demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional work groupsincluding suppliers, customers and associates, both verbally and in writing.
