The role

Based in our HR Team, this is the sole recruitment specialist role and carries responsibility for our early careers and experienced hire recruitment.

You will be responsible for managing the recruitment process from start to finish and your duties will include:

Experienced hires (lawyers and business service staff)

  • working with hiring managers to draft role profiles for vacancies and agreeing the most appropriate candidate sourcing and selection strategies.
  • sourcing direct hires through networking, direct approaches, referrals, advertising and other tools as appropriate.
  • managing recruitment agency relationships to ensure strong service levels and value for money
  • Advising and assisting on selection techniques, being an expert in interviewing skills (and conducting interviews where appropriate) and also engaging with other selection tools including psychometric ability tests
  • managing the candidate experience including interview arrangements, feedback etc (with assistance from the HR Team)
  • managing the offer process and overseeing onboarding and induction processes (as managed by the HR Team)
  • procuring temporary hires as required.

Early careers

In conjunction with the HR Team and others in the firm, managing the recruitment process for trainee solicitors and legal apprentices to include marketing, owning the application process, application screening, design and management of assessment days etc.

Additional responsibilities

  • Advising on our employer branding through management of our careers pages, job board and directory entries etc. (with support from / in liaison with the Marketing Team)
  • Assisting as required with pay and other benchmarking exercises using market knowledge and sector contacts.
  • Advising and/or supporting our initiatives to ensure our recruitment processes are inclusive and non-discriminatory and wholly in-line with our culture and values.

You will be required to travel to our London office (and occasionally elsewhere in the UK ) on a regular basis.

This list is not exhaustive and other duties and projects may be assigned to you.

About you

You will need to have solid in-house recruitment experience gained over at least 3 years (ideally more) covering most of the above duties, particularly in relation to experienced hires.

Law firm experience would be ideal, but experience gained in other professional services or highly knowledge based sectors will be considered.

You will need to be pro-active and flexible, with a confident and positive attitude.

As an experienced recruiter you will know that strong prioritisation skills are needed to balance competing pressures.

Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and strong influencing skills are also essential.

Psychometric qualifications are desirable .
