Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Berkshire

Senior Design EngineerSalary: £55,000Location: BerkshirePermanent position Together with the Lead Design Engineer, the Design Engineer is responsible of the detailed engineering of the process equipment's from conceptual design, through detailed 3D modelling and to 2D fabrication drawings.   The Design Engineer will also have a key role in the development, improvement and implementation of new and existing mechanical standards while maintaining responsible engineering practices and safeguards.Duties & ResponsibilitiesDesign rotating and non-rotating drying specialized process equipment. Elaborate and communicate conceptual ideas. Prepare 3D models and Bill of Materials. Present the fabrication requirements and details on 2D drawings including welding requirement and machining tolerancing. Perform necessary design validations through calculations or simulations. Maintain and implement design standards. Create and understand 2D drawings of general arrangements, process flow diagrams, and piping & instrumentation diagrams. Utilize vendor supplied drawings/catalogs to complete tasks assigned. Other duties as assigned (equipment specifications, special projects, site visits, etc). Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEngineering degree in Science/Technology. 5-10 years in an engineering related field. Experience with design and fabrication of steel and stainless-steel process equipment. Experience with design of rotating machines. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate thoughts & ideas in a comprehensive manner. Ability to work independently to complete assignments on time. Proficient in 3D CAD software Autodesk Inventor or another leading 3D software. Willingness to travel to job sites or fabrication shops (if required). Additional Valuable Knowledge & Skills Experience with process equipment related to the food, chemical, or agricultural industry. Experience with any FEA software.
