FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Windows System Administrator in Belfast to work for our client within the finance sector.

We are seeking a

Senior Windows System Administrator

with a strong background in the Windows server system space to carry out a broad range of operational service and support assignments. You'll manage, install, build, monitor and support the Microsoft windows Servers. You'll also be responsible for ensuring that the servers are up and always running smoothly. In addition, you will be required to maintain, patch, and upgrade the servers as needed. Furthermore, you will also be responsible for troubleshooting any server issues that may arise. This position is in Belfast with the expectation that you will be onsite twice per month.

Key ResponsibilitiesnOverseeing and maintaining Windows-based IT Infrastructure. This includes installing, configuring, and optimising operating systems, software, and hardware.nTroubleshooting system issues, performing system updates and patches, and ensuring data backups.nCollaboration with other IT professionals, monitoring system performance, and implementing security measures are crucial aspects of the role.nProvide engineering solutions for various projects and operational needs.nProvide 3rd level on-call support in a follow-the-sun support environment in the global team.nIncident, change and problem management.nWork with automation tools like PowerShell / HPSA / Ansible / Salt.nSupport public and private cloud-based windows server environment.nResearch and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage resources and provide economies of scale.nPerform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.nAct as a subject matter expert and consultant who can impart technical guidance and engage in highly complex troubleshooting/problem resolution.

What you will bring:n5-10 years of system administration with proven experience as a Microsoft Windows Server Administrator.nDegree in technology related major preferred or Undergraduate Degree or Technical Certificate.nWindows Server build & support hands-on experience including problem determination/problem resolution skills.nExperience with Windows servers 2012, 2016 & 2019.nFamiliarity with Microsoft Azure Cloud.nGood knowledge of networking, firewall configuration, and VPN.nFamiliarity with security tools and best practices.nWorking in project-based work and support-related experience.nHighly adaptable with ability to work in a fast-paced demanding environment.nAbility to work independently and represent the team during incident and problem resolutions.nEffective time management skills and ability to work under deadlines and operational pressures.nDemonstrate ability to apply technology solutions to business problems and work with teams globally.nFamiliarity with Active Directory, PowerShell scripting.nFunctional understanding of project management principles and their application to infrastructure projects and teams.nWorking knowledge of ServiceNow and Microsoft office tools products.nProven ability to learn new technologies quickly to a high level of proficiency.nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.nExcellent communication and customer service skills.
