SEMH Teaching Assistant – Huddersfield

ABOUT:

Prospero Teaching are looking for an experienced SEMH teaching assistant to join an alternative provision in Huddersfield. You will be required to work with small groups of KS3/4 pupils who have Social, Emotional, Mental Health needs, will be full time and will continue initially on a temporary basis.

The school helps students that find it difficult to manage in mainstream education by giving them caring and understanding environment. As part of this role, you will help students that have experienced a turbulent time education and at point negative experience.

You will need to build relationships quickly with the pupils and you will have help and supervision from teaching staff and senior leadership.

They will focus on a reduced curriculum and in particular key subjects such as Maths, English and Science so a strong background in these subjects is essential.

CONTRACT/POSITION DETAILS :

Location – Huddersfield

Position – SEMH TA

Type of work – Classroom support

Contract or position start date – ASAP

Duration / Likely Duration – Full academic Year

Contract or position end date (if applicable) – Ongoing

Contract type (perm/temp to perm) – Temporary – Permanent

Full time/part time – Full time

Minimum rate of pay – £85- 95 per day

Hours – 8:30 am – : Mon – Fri (term time only)

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

Recent experience of supporting pupils with SEMH

Strong academic background in Maths, English & Science

Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (essential, however training can be provided)

Up to date Prevent training issued in the last 3 years (essential, however, training can be provided)

Up to date behaviour management & FGM training (essential, however training can be provided)

LEVEL 2 Teaching Assistant/or equivalent and above is preferable.

Team Teach Trained (advantageous)

Personal care (advantageous)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold Right to Work in the UK

Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.

Provide two professional child related references that cover at least the last two years.
